• We do provide Look Keo pedals, Shimano SPD and Shimano SPD SL. If you are a Speedplay rider bring the pedals along with you.
• If you need a local guide to ride with you, please let us know and we will provide you with a quote.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

You are responsible for the integrity of the bike. Our rental does not include theft, robbery, burglary or crash insurance, so in any of those cases we will charge you an equivalent amount to the damaged caused to the bike.

ASFRA-FLANDERS - FAQ's 

*Booking and rental process:

What do I need to rent a bike?

ID or passport and a valid credit card (Maestro, Visa or Mastercard only). Amex not accepted.

Please notice that a valid credit card (Visa/Mastercard) is always required to rent a bike, even with a pre-paid reservation. In addition, a security deposit may be blocked on that card for security.

Can I rent a bike if I do not have a credit card?

Yes, you can. A security deposit will be required (the quantity may vary according to the type of bicycle). Please, consider that it is not possible to book in advance with no credit card.

How do I make a reservation?

In order to make a reservation, please  You can choose the rental period and we wil check the stock availability (please notice that it is not allowed to make reservations for 1-day rental for TOUR OF FLANDERS). A 30% of the booking total will be charged in order to secure the booking (this deposit is non-refundable in case of cancellation and your booking can not be modified once confirmed). To pick up the bike you need to bring your Id/Passport and a valid credit card Visa/Mastercard.

Can I cancel my booking? 

It is possible to cancel your booking by contacting us by email . Please notice that there is a penalty fee of 20% of the booking cost so please make sure you choose the right dates and bikes. The deposit paid when booking a bike will not be refunded in case of cancellation. You will find all the technical specifications of the bikes in the bicycle description as well as geometry on every size so you can compare it with your own bike at home. 

How long in advanced can I make a reservation?

You are more than welcome to make a reservation as soon as you know your travel dates so you ensure availability although please consider that, as we change models every year, the reserved model could be replaced for a new one with similar specifications. In any case, we will always update your booking to a model with the same specifications or better ones than the previosly reserved bike.

If I have a booking on my name, can another person collect the bike on my behalf?

Yes, it is possible if you let us know in advance by email. The person collecting the bike must bring his/her ID/Passport and credit card Vïsa/Mastercard. He/she will be responsible for the rental equipment and he/she will make the payment of the due amount on collection.

What size should I choose?

In the link 'Geometry' on the model you are interested in, you will find the geometry that you can compare with your own bike at home.

Do I need to book a bicycle in advance or can I just come to the shop?

We highly recommend to book in advance to ensure availability. In order to make a reservation, For '1-day rentals', please visit the shops or call directly as bookings are not accepted.

*Rental conditions:

Is the rental for 1 day counted 24 hours?

1 day rental is counted 24h only in the urban models (city, comfort and fitness). In the rest of models (mtb, ebikes and racing bikes) the day counts from the morning (shop opening time) until the afternoon (shop closing time).

Do you offer rentals of less than 1 day?

No, unfortunately not. Our minimum rental is 1 day. In any case, we offer competitive daily prices on every model advertised.

Do you offer transport service?

No, we do not offer bicycle transport service so it is only possible to collect and return the bikes at our adress at Bergstraat 75 , 9700 Oudenaarde.

Can I store my bike at the shop if I rent it for more than one day? 

No, it is only possible to collect and return the bikes when the shop is open. Bike collection/return available Sunday only via appointment.

If I want to start cycling earlier than your shop opening time, can I pick up my racing bike the previous night?

Yes! It is possible according to availability. And before 18.00h.

Can I rent a bike for any sort of amateur or professional competition?

No, the rental bikes are meant to be used for training and cycle tourism purporses. Professional use of the rental bikes may carry penalties or extra costs.

Do you offer insurance for the bikes?

No, we do not offer theft or damage insurance in any of our bikes. We recommend you to check either with your travel insurance or credit card insurance to learn more about their conditions.

Is there any other charges that I should consider?

In very exceptional cases (as for example, dirty Mtb's), we can charge 10€ when the bike is returned full of mud, dust.

When loosing the key of the lock provided with the bike (in models where it is included), there is a charge of 10€ for the keycut.

Also, when having a flat tire and/or using the inner tube provided in the repair kit, there is a charge of 5€ per tube (when the client replaces the repair kit's tube for a new one of his own, there will not be any extras).

Is it possible to transport the bike in the bus/train/taxi?

It is possible to transport the bikes either in taxi (please order a big taxi accordingly)

*Rental equipment:

Does the rental bikes include lock?

Yes! We include high security locks for free in urban models, hardtrail mtb and hybrids. In road bikes, we strongly recommend not to leave the bicycles unattended and not to lock it and be away from it. Locks are not provided and they are not allowed to be used on this bikes for security reasons and in order to avoid carbon frame damages.

What equipment is provided with the bikes?

We provide a puncture repair kit (air pump, two tyre levers and spare inner tube) and bottle cage in all the sporty models. A fee of 5€ will be charged if using the spare inner tube provided. Speedometer not provided. In all road bikes models we also provide a 4mm allen key for the saddle adjustment and a multitool in the case of disc brakes road bikes. 

Can I rent helmet, pedals or any other accessories? 

Yes! Helmets and pedals (Shimano SPD, Shimano SPD-SL or Look Keo) can be rented from 2€/day. If you bring your own pedals our staff will install them on the bike(s) for you.

Is it possible to change the crankset, handlebar, cassette or any other component on the bikes?

No, unfortunately it is not possible to change the gear ratio or any of the components of the bikes such as handlebar although we offer a very wide variety of models and sizes so you can choose the most suitable for you!

Is it easy to start cycling from the center of Oudenaarde?

Yes! We are located 1 min away from the main center.
Cycle tracks along the cannal and all of the bicycle paths are connected. Oudenaarde is also a safe city placed next to flat areas and famous hills of the TOUR OF FLANDERS. In addition, this town is a wonderful place to enjoy after cycling with an incredible legacy of culture and history and full of gastronomy offers and nightlife! Easy routes to technical off-road tracks and even road cycling it is possible to do from the center of Oudenaarde.

How can I find some routes for bicycles?

Yes you can check some recommendations for cycling routes. In addition, we also sell a professional cycling map (10€) with all the routes for road/mtb bikes all over the FLEMISH ARDENNES (including different levels of traffic, gradient, altimetry, etc.).

Can I park somewhere nearby your shops?

Yes we have a FREE parking at the shop.

Can I leave my luggage at ASFRA bicycles® shop?

Yes! We have a left luggage service free of charge when you rent a bike with us. This left luggage facility is available exclusively for our customers.

Is it possible to buy accessories or spare parts at ASFRA bicycles® shop?

Yes! Appart from the equipment that we include when renting a bicycle with us, we have a good stock of spare parts and accessories including brands such as Continental, Shimano, Look, Sram, Zefal, Garmin, Michelin, Schwalbe, Cateye, Sigma, Var, Tacx, Selle Italia, Thule among others).

Do you offer bike repair service in ASFRA?

Yes! We do offer bike repair. As our main activity is bike repair and  bicycle rental, we normally do the repairs on the day so we keep more space for rental bikes at our shop . 

Do you offer children bikes and children accessories?

Yes! We offer children bikes for kids between 1 m and 1,50 m as well as child seats (max. weight of 22 kg) and baby trailers (suitable for 1 or 2 kids, max. height 111cm and max. load including cargo and passengers 45kg).  

Do you sell second-hand bicycles after the season?

We normally start selling our second hand bicycles in our ASFRA bike shop after summer (this may vary). In any case, all our second-hand fleet of bikes that are for sale in our shop.
